The big N strikes back.

Image
There are a lot of people who believe that Nintendo's glory days are behind them, and that all there is to look forward to anymore are the next Mario rehash game or the next Zelda game. Sometimes however the big N can surprise. Today Intendo released two semi-trailers for new new games and I can't wait to play these on a Wii U someday. The first game is a collaboration between Nintendo, Intelligent Systems, and Atlus named Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem. There is no gameplay yet, but my guess is it's going to be a tactical game. It looks that for the Shin Megami Tensei side they will focus on characters from the main series. The other game is from Monolith Soft. (The makers of Xenosaga, Xenoblade, Super Robot Wars OG: Endless Frontier and the soon to be Project x Zone). The game is just named X and it reminds me of Monster Hunter and Xenoblade mixed together. I can see good things in Nintendo's future. Credit goes to this  RPGamer Article .

Steam on Linux!!

Image
I don't know why I didn't know about this until now, but Steam, the popular PC gaming platform created by Valve has released a beta version of their client on Linux. I have been a long time Linux fan, using it for my C++ programming as well has enjoying the overall freedom of the operating system. I use Linux Mint alongside my Windows 7, Windows 3.11 (Keep it around for some old school fun, and yes I use Dosbox as well), and Windows XP desktop setups. Now in order to get Steam for linux, I assume you will need a distro based on Debian (The downloaded file is a .deb) All you need to do is go to the  Steam Download Page  and click on the Linux (beta) download. Open the file and let your package manager install the necessary packages it needs. Afterwards Steam should open and start updating to the most recent version. There are even a few games that already run on Linux like Team Fortress 2. The full list is  here . Oh yeah, if you want to friend me on Stream, my username is sa

Senran Kagura Episode 1 Impression

Image
Ah fanservice, I have an odd relationship with thee. On one hand, I LOVE it, but I believe it alone cannot carry a story. It's the reason why I love Queen's Blade season two, but I don't care for the first season as much. (Rebellion is okay so far though). Now, Senran Kagura is based on the 3DS (and soon PS VITA) title of the same name. You basically get to control a bunch of ass-kicking busty women who fight against ninja and it has a clothes ripping system when you take damage; that alone is enough to pique my interest (yeah, yeah I know I'm shallow), but as I am still learning Japanese, and the fact that I wound need to import a Japanese 3DS to play it, means that I could never try the game anytime soon. When I learned that there was an anime adaption of the game I decided that I would give it a try, and I've got to say that if you expect a light sugary anime you will also be surprised. The anime revolves around four girls: Asuka, Ikaruga, Katsuagi, Yagyuu and

Da Capo III Episode I Impression

I've been an fan of the Da Capo series for as long as it has existed. On January 5th, 2013, the first episode of the Anime adaption of the newest game Da Capo III aired, and I wanted to say what I thought of  this episode. First of all I really like the homage they pay to the previous series, both in certain scenes and especially in the credits. The Episode largely concerns itself with the viewer getting to know the cast; for example this lad is the hero of the story: Kiyotaka Yoshino. he is like most lead male characters in a harem series, except he isn't a pushover when he deals with women which is nice. This lovely lady is my favorite girl of the series so far; Charles Yoshino. Don't ask me why she had a boy's name. She seems to be the sweet haafu girl being half Japanese and Half British. This girl is Himeno Katsuagi and she is the childhood friend of Kiyo's. These two girls are Aoi Hinomoto (Brown Haired Girl) and Sara Rurukawa (Purple Hai

Right now I'm watching Da Capo III, Senran Kagura (I love Fanservice, shoot me), Yama no Susume, Mangirl! and Ore no Kanojo. I also plan on watching Boku wa Tomodachi Season II, Love Live and Tamako Market. I'm also really interested in the Index Movie, Saint Yong Men and the Chuunibyou OVAs.
